Top Ten Thursday: Peru

Happy Thursday!

In July, I had the amazing opportunity to go on a short-term medical mission trip to Iquitos, Peru (aka the Amazon Jungle). We encouraged existing churches, helped start new churches, as well as ran a medical clinic at several village sites. It was a life-changing experience that I am blessed to have had. I could go on for days talking about this trip. Here are some of my favorite photos!

Truths God Taught Me

1. God is SO big. Sitting on the Amazon River in a boat, you are overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of God.
2. God is the Creator of every animal, insect, bird, river, tree, man, woman and child. He is unimaginably creative. In 2.5 acres of the forest you can find 700 different species of trees and 1,400  types of plants. He designed everything and everyone for a specific purpose—to glorify His name.
3. God’s timing is perfect.
4. God wants us out of our comfort zones daily so we learn to trust and rely on Him alone.
5. God is the same God in every country and in every language.

Things I learned about Peru
1. Don’t drink the water!
2. In the jungle, you get everywhere by boat.
3. You put on sunscreen first, then 98% deet mosquito repellant.
4. Because of all the rain, it’s muddy everywhere. Really muddy!!
5. The people are culturally Catholic.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for me during this trip, as well as financially supported me. It means more to me than you will ever know!
